Balisht Face

9

This piece exemplifies a technique that, when used well, adds much to the drama of “Baluch” weavings: the judicious, sparing use of spot color in carefully chosen locations.  Here it is the blue green that does the trick, adding a new dimension of sparkle to what would have otherwise been a fairly drab if strikingly drawn creation.  Note that the field contains the same design motifs that are present in two much older pieces in this exhibition (plates 3 & 4).
