Rug

Did the weaver intend this rug for use in prayers?  Even though it lacks the traditional “Baluch” mihrab (prayer arch), it is clearly directional in design, the defining element of a prayer rug.  But it offers up no clue.  Its elegance, however, is apparent, enhanced by the open design of the field coupled with the crisp outlines of the geometric hooks that line it.  The pale green/reddish aubergine reciprocal outer border is also a surprising touch.
