Small Rug

22

Rarely do “Baluch” weavings demonstrate the wonderful minimalist serenity that pervades this little rug.  The small tri-colored medallion floats in a field comprised of camel wool in the top quarter and a soft, pearly wool -- either sheep or goat – in the rest.  The border, probably borrowed from the Turkmen, (or did they borrow it from the “Baluch”?), is a rich compote of red, blue, white, and royal purple.
