Small Rug

25

This little gem, while hardly a thing of beauty, is the only rug that ever made me laugh out loud at first sighting.  The weaver must have been a mother with a mischievous sense of humor.  It is interesting to speculate that this piece and the five tiny ones preceding it (plates 20-24) are not balisht but a group of very small rugs perhaps made for use by children.  Answers escape us, but careful examination of the end finishes and design elements certainly gives merit to the possibility.
