Rug

26

Once called “Kurd-Baluch” and currently attributed to the “Aimaq” group, rugs of this type (also see plates 27 & 28) differ from traditional “Baluch” weavings by using symmetrical knots, rectangle-based main borders, repetitive field motifs, and striped plainweave end finishes.  The two diagonal rows of near-white botehs in the field corners of this rug are the result of a totally faded fugitive pink, a reminder that “bad dyes” are not always that undesirable once they’ve faded.
