Salor or Saryk
Chuval Fragment

1' 8" X 1' 7"

12

This piece is a single gul from a three gul chuval. The pile is a mixture a mixture of symmetric and asymmetric left knots, suggesting a Saryk influence. The secondary guls, instead of the usual geometric charkh palak motif, are instead simplified Holbein medallions. The remnant of right border is also different from what is usually found on Salor three-gul chuvals. The left border consists of two narrow strips of bottom or top borders from different pieces sewn on.
