What gives this piece its unusual appearance is the dark palette enlivened with touches of white and turquoise. As a result, many of the familiar motifs assume an appearance markedly different from the norm: the ubiquitous sainak motif of the outer border recedes into inconspicuousness, and in the bottom skirt, the familiar three circles at the four ends of the diagonals become the dominant feature. While the weave is extremely coarse, the weaver yet managed to retain the typical Turkmen crispness of design.
