Tekke Small Carpet

Most Tekke small rugs have a diminutive form of the main carpet gul, although chuval guls are seen reasonably frequently as well. The 8-pointed star in the middle of the main gul is very uncommon. But what really distinguishes this example is the five- box minor gul—the owner knows no other Tekke small rug with this minor gul, although it is occasionally seen in chuvals. The border drawing is like a small-scale version of a main carpet, with plain octagons separated by unique elements on the sides, and interspersed with “barberpoles” on the ends.
