Chodor Chuval

3' 3" X 3' 10"

19

This Chodor chuval fragment has an almost clunky charm. Major design elements—the main chuval guls, the secondary chuval guls, and the Kochanak main border motif—have been expanded and simplified compared with their usual treatment in Chodor weaving. The forms in the elem are particularly large and spacious, compared with typical Chodor drawing. Tertiary motifs have been irregularly and playfully inserted into the main field. The color palette (undiminished by damage) is brighter and livelier than most Chodors, with a relative abundance of green and multiple hues of blue.
