Central Anatolian Kilim
Mid 19th century

The design bears some resemblance to that of pile Ladik prayer rugs, and the color combination dominated by brown, yellow, and green is both unusual and pleasing.

A similar piece in East Berlin has been published by Volkmar Enderlein, in Orientalische Kelims, Berlin, 1986, p. 108. Enderlein reports two others, one in Bertram Frauenknecht, Anatolische Gebetskelims, Nürnberg, 1978, pl. 19, the other in B. Balpinar, Kilim, Cicim, Zili, Sumak: Turkish Flatweaves, Istanbul 1982, Tf. 18
