Baluch
Pile Rug 19th
century
What distinguishes this camel-field
rug is the generous open space in which the tree form is presented.
The hand panels are unusually narrow, and the “squashed top” form
that contains the diamond shaped “eye” in the mihrab is unusual as
well. The white amulet forms in the central field are woven of
cotton. Also noteworthy are the supplemental weft zig-zags at the
corners of the kilim ends.
