Baluch Pile Rug 19th
century
Ivory field Baluch prayer rugs are
rarely seen, and this one is an outstanding example from a small
group that features rows of polychrome botehs in the field, woven
with a rather hard, wiry variety of wool. The kilim end at top is
mostly gone. Note the occasional spots of brilliant blue in the main
border, a feature that distinguishes many of the best Baluch
weavings.
